Hard to avoid it

ADVERTISEMENTS

Yes, it's upon us. Tomorrow at this time we'll all be doing our civic duty as Americans and voting for representatives, senators, the president, and of course, school board members. Bonds, referendums, propositions, and a host of other choices will need to be made and hopefully all of our BoardBuzz readers are well informed and have made their decisions wisely. If you're like us, you're ready for Election Day to be behind us so we can all move on. Just one more day, everyone!

ABC News selects a 'person of the week' each Friday and last week they selected a class from the Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta. In the report, Charles Gibson mentions that a video they created has received more than 500,000 hits on YouTube, but it's up to almost a million as of today. These seventh graders took a T.I. song and put election issues in the lyrics. As part of their debate class, half of the students focused on McCain's points while the other half took on Obama's. Even though the students are too young to vote, they feel passionate about the issues and the video from ABCNews.com gets into some of the background the students worked on to create the song. This morning, they were in New York on Good Morning America, performing the song in Times Square.

While the pundits talk and the maps show red, blue, purple, and variations on every possible what if scenario, these 12- and 13-year olds demonstrate that you can never be too young to care about voting.
