Shar-pei stomach

ADVERTISEMENTS
A frightening topic for Halloween...

I forget about my Sitemeter stats for months at a time, but I checked them recently. A bunch of people find this blog by searching for "cesearan section recovery", and one person searched for "i had a cesearean my stomach still high." Are you talking about the little stomach pouch that you get after a C-section? Because I've seen some people with flat tummies post-cesearan, but I still have my pouch and I don't think it will ever go away. Actually, my entire stomach, 20 months after giving birth, is still stretched and stretch-marked and wrinkly. I'm under five feet. I was two weeks overdue. By the end of my pregnancy, I had grown out of my maternity clothes and may have been wider around than I am tall. I think it was just too much to recover from.

A few months ago, a friend was telling me about his friend who had given birth a few months before and was complaining about how long it was taking for her body to get back to normal. "You bounced right back, though," he said.

"I lost the weight," I replied. "Even that took a little while -- I was still in maternity pants for about four months after giving birth. But my body never completely recovered. You don't want to see what my stomach looks like. It's still all wrinkly."

"Really?" he said. "Let me see!"

Uh, NO.

"So what can you do about it?" he said.

I shrugged. "Tummy tuck?"

"When are you going to do that?"

"If JW dies and I have to start dating again."

"Seriously?"

"That's elective surgery! If my husband doesn't care what my stomach looks like, I'm not going to volunteer to get sliced open."

"I'm going to marry a supermodel," he decided. "And we'll hire a surrogate to have our kids."

Did I ever mention how grateful I am to have married the right guy?
