Top Ten New Year's Resolutions

Welcome back! We hope you all had a restful and joyful holiday.

So it's a new year, fresh start and all that blather, and in keeping with the spirit of the New Year, I have assembled a list of top ten new year's resolutions that some of you have previously forwarded to me (thanks readers!):

10. Try to read the paper less during depositions so the disdain I have for my opponent's line of questioning is less obvious.

9. Refrain from filing sanctions motions on a Friday afternoon.

8. Be nicer to Chris Carver.

7. Point out typos that others make less often.

6. Make more fun of Judge Alan Schwartz.

5. Eliminate the word "accordingly" from my briefs.

4. Stop writing confirmatory letters.

3. Be somewhat less contemptuous of my opponent's legal positions.

2. Talk to other people before jumping to conclusions.

And the number one New Year's resolution for 2008:

Try not to smirk when saying "good job" to my opponent after oral argument.
