I’ve been slimed

By Michael Grossman

ADVERTISEMENTS

Sorry for the period of inactivity. There has been lots going on and I’ve recently been slimed. Allow me to explain…

First of all, I’ve given my letter of resignation to my current government law firm - I leave on September 14, 2007. On September 17, 2007, I officially begin my solo law practice. During the past few weeks I’ve been making my new office space feel like an office space - law books, my iMac, a telephone, photos of the family. I don’t have a traditional office with four walls - it’s more like a very private cubicle. I have my own space within a shared office community. I’m the only attorney in room full of computer programmers, financial gurus and marketing geniuses. It’s cozy, friendly and cost-effective. All in all, a very comfortable place for my first foray into solo law firm life.

Oh, and the slimed issue. Well, what I really mean is spam rather than slime. But I’ve been inundated with so much spam on my Wordpress blog that I feel that ‘a lot of spam’ doesn’t do this justice. I have over 900 spam comments just waiting to be deleted. Within the muck there are some helpful and friendly comments from bleaders. I’m really at wit’s end with the situation. I see two choices - either leave Wordpress and go to a different blog host or give up the blog entirely.

A new blog host would be a pain - switching domain registries, moving posts, blah blah blah. Giving up the blog entirely would relieve my guilt over not keeping it updated, but I think I’d miss the occasional outlet. I’m on a precipice - I’ve either got to stop entirely or I’ve got to write more often to make the whole endeavor worthwhile. I’d honestly like to write more, but it’s hard to find the time. And if I’m fortunate enough to be busy as an actual attorney in my solo practice, rather than merely a networking schmoozer, then I’ll be even busier.

I apologize to everyone who may have left a comment that remains unapproved. I hope to attend to the problem in the near future. Until then, I’ll look into what I can do about the whole slime situation. Yikes.
