WASHINGTON?President Bush said Tuesday the nation's troubled financial system is "basically sound" and urged lawmakers to quickly enact legislation to prop up mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.George W. Bush made those comments on July 15, 2008.  (Story.) Now he's claiming that the economy is unsound, and that we must act now, or we'll lose out on a valuable deal. He was wrong then.  Why should I believe that he's right now?
