By Ross Jurewitz
A Jurewitz Law Group client was awarded over $215,000 for injuries he suffered during a physical altercation involving approximately 10 people in the Mission Beach area of San Diego over Father's Day Weekend 2006. The Court found held Angelo's Towing, Inc., its' manager Nashwan Habib, and one of its' employees, Hrand Younis, liable for injuries suffered by Joseph Murphy. Murphy was knocked unconscious and his lower jaw was broken, requiring surgery and permanent hardware to fixate the fracture.
Here are the pertinent facts found in the 15-page ruling by San Diego Superior Court Judge Steven R. Denton:
On June 17, 2006, Murphy was working at Mission Beach Tattoo (MBT) in Mission Beach. MBT is located next to a Jack in the Box, located on the corner of East Mission Bay Drive and Mission Boulevard. It's a very busy area, especially during the summer as beach goers and other non-customers park in the Jack in the Box (JITB) parking lot. This had been a chronic problem for JITB as customers of other businesses, such as MBT, frequently parked in the JITB lot.
