: Mike Conaway's BlogProtecting Main Street from Wall Street
Our economy is facing historic challenges, ones that pose a clear threat to our country?s economic foundation. Without urgent and comprehensive action, a financial collapse is likely that would be devastating for Americans. The time is now to form a comprehensive plan to be implemented quickly to stop the decline of confidence in our markets and get it back on its feet. During this hard time, it is essential that we do not tolerate partisanship in Congress. This is an extremely important, time-sensitive issue, and all Members of Congress should be committed to working in a bipartisan way with the Administration to stabilize our markets and get the economy back on track.
We must handle this situation with fiscal discipline; if Congress decides to spend nearly $1 trillion dollars on a bailout, it must find ways to prevent that cost from being passed along to hard-working Americans. -Mike
