JW and I are going away for a long weekend in a few days. We're leaving K with his parents. It'll be the first time I've ever been away from K overnight, and I am looking forward to the break. I'm excited about going to Montreal, but I am especially cherishing the idea of waking up whenever my eyes happen to open and lying in bed for as long as I feel like it instead of jerking awake, checking the clock, staggering over to shut off the baby monitor, and praying for the wailing to subside. And, two whole days with just me and JW! No family obligations, no need to be home for bedtime. We can even go out after dark!
Since I'll have two entire toddler-free days where nobody's going to fling soup at me and wipe their nose on my pants, I decided to take the opportunity to go shopping. I bought a dress that's shiny and looks like some sort of disco tablecloth, and another dress that's clingy enough to inspire me to do some situps before we leave. I am going to brush my hair and paint my toenails and wear my dresses and feel like a woman again and not just someone's mom. Maybe snapping out of my rut for the weekend will help me to do it every day.
