: Illinois Nursing Home Abuse BlogResidents Frantically Look For Housing as Assisted Living Home Loses License
By Levin & Perconti
A state decided to suspend an adult care home?s license after inspectors concluded that conditions put residents in imminent danger. This decision sent 60 residents scrambling to find new homes, mostly assisted living homes. State legislators found that the home was not properly supervising residents in terms of their comings and goings. The action follows the disappearance of an insulin-dependant woman with schizophrenia. The home had been repeatedly accused of poor patient care and unsafe conditions. Past instances include: a resident dying after chocking on a sandwich; a resident dying after scalding in a tub; and a man with dementia wandering from the facility and dying. The home had also received numerous violations, including door alarms that weren?t operating, soiled and ripped mattresses and stained pillows without pillowcases. These abuse stories mirror those that are found in nursing homes throughout Chicago, Illinois. To read the full story, click here.
