Lambda Legal sued the University of Hawaii in the spring of 2008 for denying couples housing to Phi Ngo and Joseph O?Leary. Phi and Joseph had lived in couples before but when they reapplied they were denied. The University said only couples married under Hawaii law of one man and one woman could live in university couple housing.* * *
The lawsuit was settled out of court. Phi and Joseph will be allowed couple housing at the university!
