UNDERSTANDING THE SUPREME COURT?S
RECENT PATENT DECISIONS
How Those Decisions May Impact Technology Companies
Co-hosted by
Farella Braun + Martel LLP
Stanford Law School's
Program in Law, Science & Technology
In the last two or three years, the U.S. Supreme Court has taken an unprecedented interest in patent cases. This year alone it is expected to issue four decisions that relate in some significant way to patent law. While this heightened high court activity is naturally of great interest to legal scholars, it also has the potential to impact directly the way in which patent owners use their patents by changing fundamentally some of the important principles of patent law.
This program will highlight:
- The patent-related cases recently decided by the Supreme Court including Ebay v. MercExchange, Laboratory Corporation of America Holdings v. Metabolite Laboratories, and Independent Ink v. Illinois Tool
- What the decisions might mean in a practical sense.
- How the Supreme Court rulings might affect the exploitation of patents.
