By Chrissie Cole
A worker was killed in a construction accident when he fell 48 stories to his death at a Manhattan construction site on Thursday morning, according to fire officials.
The worker - who was part of a crew that was dismantling a crane - allegedly stumbled from a walkway between the building and the crane when he fell, according to officials at the scene of the accident.
He landed in a construction lot surrounded by a fence. His body was taken and placed inside an ambulance.
The construction site - a glass-walled skyscraper - is located between 41st and 42nd Street, and 10th and 11th avenue in Midtown Manhattan. The crane can be seen from the 11th Avenue side.
The victim's name has not yet been released by officials pending an investigation and family notification.
