Chair Search

By Dan Markel, Ethan Leib, Rick Garnett, Matt Bodie, Paul Horwitz , Steve Vladeck, and Orly Lobel

ADVERTISEMENTS

I'm very happy to publicize the following message, which has also been distributed elsewhere, on behalf of my fine institution:

The University of Alabama School of Law seeks nominations and
applications for a University-level Chairholder who will diversify the
school's academic community and enhance the intellectual life of the law
school community through her/his scholarship and teaching.  The School
of Law seeks individuals who possess a distinguished record of scholarly
achievement and demonstrated excellence in the classroom.  The Chair
search does not focus on any particular subject matter areas and the
School of Law welcomes nominations and applications in all fields of
law. The University of Alabama School of Law has achieved a high level
of excellence in the quality of its faculty, students, administration,
and staff. We seek to build on this record of success through the
recruitment and retention of a Chairholder with a national (or
international) reputation for scholarship and teaching of the highest
caliber. Most candidates will have a J.D. degree, or equivalent, and
have a distinguished record of or outstanding potential for a chairholder-level
quality of scholarship and teaching.  Exceptional jurists or practitioners may
apply.  Also, exceptional candidates with an advanced degree, such as a
Ph.D., with scholarly interests related to the law and involving
interdisciplinary, jurisprudential, empirical, and social science work
may be considered even without holding a law degree.  Salary, benefits
and research support will be nationally competitive.  The School of Law
will treat all nominations and applications as strictly confidential,
subject only to the requirements of state and federal law. Nominations
or applications should be submitted to Associate Dean Noah Funderburg,
University of Alabama School of Law, Box 870382, Tuscaloosa, Alabama
35487-0382 or by applying online at facultyjobs.ua.edu.  The position
will remain open until filled.

The University of Alabama is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative
Action Employer.  Women, racial minorities, sexual minorities, persons with
Disabilities, and veterans are encouraged to apply.  Requests for
reasonable accommodation during the application and/or interview process
should be made to Associate Dean J. Noah Funderburg, Box 870382,
Tuscaloosa, AL 35487-0382, (205)348-4508.
