This is Going to Get Intense

ADVERTISEMENTS
The election season so far has gotten people passionate about politics again. Obama has motivated Democrats and others across the board to dedicate themselves to this election, discuss the future, and contribute to his campaign.

McCain, of course, has his intense followers. And those followers grew, and became more intense, with the selection of Sarah Palin as his VP.

So when passions are flaring on both sides, it's expected that people of good faith with reasonable disagreements will lose sight of the fact that neither one is necessarily *wrong* about their decision to support one or the other candidate.

Till now, most of the disagreements have been short-lived bursts of intensity that have gradually faded.

But I have a feeling things are about to get crazy. The next two months are not going to be pretty between the candidates, much less their supporters.

I urge all of you, especially those closely following the ins and outs of the election, not to be too quick to dismiss your friends' or acquaintances viewpoints, not to lose respect for them, and not to think that they are idiots, crazy, or gullible.

Do not accuse your parents or family members of lying, or laugh at their opinions. Do not tell your friends that you can't understand how they can support such a repugnant candidate. And do not let your relationships with your loved ones be affected, in any way, by this election.

This election will pass. We will wake up with a new President November 5. And we will need the people we've counted on, fallen in love with, or become friends with to be there for us long after the election ends.
