Wikipedia, Class Blogs, and Student Input

By Dan Markel, Ethan Leib, Rick Garnett, Matt Bodie, Paul Horwitz , Steve Vladeck, and Orly Lobel

ADVERTISEMENTS

I've read the comments to my posts on class blogs and Wikipedia in class with interest.  My civil procedure class does have a class blog, which I've framed as "Civil Procedure in the News."  But maybe this is the chance to pick up on two threads: the suggestion of creating a legal Wikipedia and the discussion going around the blogosphere about having a single student take notes for the class.  (See Volokh's post here.)  Maybe the blog should be more akin to a group outline or a place to brief and then to discuss the major cases in the course.

But I don't know what would be engaging to the students. (I'm looking for "carrots" given that I'm not going to use graded participation as a "stick.")  So maybe I'll ask them (and you).  The blog will be up and running next week, so I'm considering asking my students to post comments on the proposed blog format and suggest content and process.
