5 Blogs and 5 Blawgers

ADVERTISEMENTS
Well, I've been tagged. The latest chain-post making its way around the legal blogosphere is "5 Blogs and 5 Blawgers" -- wherein those who are tagged must pony up their favorite 5 non-law blogs for consideration -- and then subject five more victims to the process. When it comes to my favorite non-law blogs, I tend to favor the practical over the philosophical. Find me a blog that provides some quick, helpful tips on my subjects of interest, and those are the feeds that get stuck in my newsreader. Here are 5 of my favorite blogs, or types of blogs: -- Lifehacker continues to be my favorite blog for learning how to do things better, faster, and smarter. Whether it's learning how to install hard drive in a Macbook, learning about new software, or finding out what to do when a store sells you a box of crap and won't take it back, I find more than one helpful post every day. -- The Memes -- keeping track of the latest news, technology or otherwise, is tough. So that's why I subscribe to both Memorandum and Techmeme -- they provide the hottest political and tech stories from around the Internet, all in one place. -- New Web 2.0 sites -- I'm definitely a Web "early adopter," so I'm always on the lookout for new and interesting online tools for collaboration, social networking, or just getting things done. I love both Mashable and ReadWriteWeb -- they are always on top of the latest in web technologies. -- This blog is a benefit to Dallas residents only, but I really love D Magazine's SideDish blog. They cover what I think is one of the better dining cities in the country. -- My last choice is not really a blog, but more a feed -- I like to keep up with what my friends and professional connections are doing, but I don't always have time to visit my Facebook, LinkedIn, or Twitter page to check up on the latest. That's why I'm glad they all offer RSS feeds that flow straight into my newsreader -- even better, I can use FriendFeed to aggregate my friend's "lifestreams" into one (sometimes huge) feed. Here's the part I hate: tagging others to continue this thread. Because we haven't gotten together in quite a while, I'm going to tag my Between Lawyers alumni and friends: -- Dennis Kennedy -- Denise Howell -- Ernie Svenson -- Marty Schwimmer For my last, I'll tag a fellow Texas blogger -- Blake Boyd, whose Trial Technologist's View blog is a must-read for anybody who is presenting evidence in court. My apologies, folks.
