MIAMI HERALDMentally ill man in court is hit twice with Taser"The Broward Public Defender's Office has filed a complaint with the Broward Sheriff's Office after a mentally ill inmate on Friday was shocked with a Taser -- twice -- in court by courtroom deputies.The incident happened around 1 p.m. after Judge Geoffrey Cohen had ruled David Jones, 24, was mentally incapable of standing trial and should be committed to a state mental institution for further examination...After Cohen left the courtroom, deputies went to remove Jones and take him back to the jail to await transfer. Jones, who was shackled on his hands, feet and around his waist, asked for a few minutes to calm down, said Assistant Public Defender Anne Lemaster.Several other deputies soon arrived in the courtroom to help escort Jones to jail...continue to full post
