The First Impression
First impression is especially important in law school. Your reputation begins to form on the first day of orientation. Once it sticks, most people will know you as “the kid who snorts when s/he laughs” or “the desperate girl” or “the guy who has a drinking problem.”
General Advice:
- Avoid raising private aspects of your life until you get to know the person very well (there is almost no such thing as secrets in law school).
- Try to look professional for your school photo. (Do invest in a nice suit).
- Avoid offering unsolicited advice during the first month of law school.
- Avoid engaging in heated discussions about religion and politics your first month of law school.
- Listen more, talk less.
