: The MenagerieMama Drama?
Peach has started hitting me. Not Matthew, not other kids at school, but me. It doesn't seem to be when she's particularly unhappy or sad or happy or wakeful or tired - just sometimes, she smacks me (usually my chest, shoulders, or face) to get my attention. I should say that it's not hard - and it took me a little while to realize that was what she was doing
Every time, I do the same thing. I contain her and say, "I love you, but I don't like hitting. Until you can stop yourself, I will stop you from doing it, every time." (This comes from the Touchpoints book, which jibes very well with my philosophy of parenting - I really WANT it to work.)
And I could see this working if, maybe, she understood what I was saying and/or didn't find it uproariously hilarious -and just make her want to hit me again.
Anyone have any suggestions for me?
