: Legal Pad | LAAlex Kreit named director of law school's Center for Law and Social Justice
By Jason Siegel
Thomas Jefferson School of Law's Center for Law and Social Justice has
named a new director, Alex Kreit, assistant professor of constitutional
law.
Kreit, who joined the San Diego law school's faculty in 2007, replaces Susan Bisom-Rapp, professor of law and expert on employment discrimination, who was director for four years. Kreit said he anticipates expanding the center's connections with local nonprofits and government attorneys.
The Center for Law and Social Justice promotes research and teaching of public policy and law focused on civil rights, civil liberties, human rights and equal access to justice. Speakers in past years have addressed rights of detainees at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, and the implications of the Federal Sentencing Guidelines. Students at the Center are able to earn a Certificate in Law and Social Justice.
