Solo Practice

Consider this when:

• You want to innovate with client service;
• You want to create a virtual law office (VLO) from your basement;
• You want to get a virtual assistant a thousand miles away;
• You want to break free from the billable hour;
• You want to....(fill in the blank)

In 1962,four young musicians auditioned for Decca Records.  The executives dismissed them saying, "We don't like their sound.  Groups of guitars are on the way out."  The Beatles left without a contract.

In 1954, Elvis Presley was fired by the manager of the Grand Old Opry, who said, "You ain't goin' nowhere....son.  You ought to go back to drivin' a truck."

Alexander Graham Bell, after inventing the telephone, was told by President Rutherford B. Hayes, "That's an amazing invention, but who would ever want to use one of them?"

After it took Thomas Edison 2000 tries to invent the light bulb, a young reporter asked him how it felt to fail so many times.  "I never failed once," Edison said.  "It just happened to be a 2000-step process."

Even in law, or especially in law, there are new frontiers to conquer and the solo practitioner is free to forge ahead.Being a lawyer/solo practitioner does not limit your opportunities.  It multiplies them.  So, when others impose their fears or inhibitions or doubts upon you and your abilities, consider the above.
