FROM THE UPCOMING ISSUE | Boycott threatened over meeting site of Association of American Law Schools FROM THE UPCOMING ISSUE | Many executives still feel pressure of e-discovery issues, poll finds WEB-ONLY | Amicus groups oppose feds' use of computer fraud act in MySpace case WEB-ONLY | Attorney indicted for alleged theft of mortgage payments
"Organizations representing thousands of legal educators say they will boycott the Association of American Law Schools annual meeting in January if it is held as scheduled at the San Diego Manchester Grand Hyatt, a hotel whose owner, Douglas Manchester, has donated $125,000 to an initiative to outlaw same-sex marriage in California. The groups say that to attend the five-day event hosted at the hotel would conflict with their policies of nondiscrimination based on sexual orientation."
"Almost two out of five executives are still harried by electronic discovery issues more than 18 months after amendments to federal e-discovery rules, according to a recent online poll of more than 520 executives. A sizeable number of executives, 17.5%, characterized their company as 'not ready to handle complex discovery requests.' "

The amicus groups argue that the government's case is based on a flawed interpretation of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act."
"A grand jury in Massachusetts indicted attorney Bruce Namenson and business associate Gerald Schena for alleged theft of mortgage payments from loan companies. Namenson is also accused of stealing $100,000 from a minor he represented in a personal injury settlement."
