: Structured Settlements 4RealDoes Reference From "The Community Gossip" Look Good on Your Resume?
By John Darer
Don't be surprised if someone is looking for you on the Internet, for example on Zoom Info and a reference to Rhonda Bentzen comes up. Do you think having your name associated with a factoring broker gossip queen is good for business? Really? Seriously? Fine, then continue to be her guest.
I have noted the ZoomInfo listing of one respected NSSTA member who has 2/3 of his link references from Bentzen. Take a look at Bentzen's blog and ask yourself if the content therein is something you wish to be associated with?
For the most part Rhonda Bentzen's biggest written "contribution" to the structured settlement industry this year has been her gossip column. In fact experience has shown Bentzen to be THE most prominent gossip. She has written nothing other than gossip in almost 4 months! Much of what was written before that in the immediately preceding months was inaccurate and is still posted despite Bentzen having personal knowledge of the inaccuracies.
What does it say about the structured settlement industry if the only current published source of the comings and goings in the industry is a factoring broker's blog gossip column? This is the same individual who has stated that she pays referral fees (i.e. "kickbacks") to 90% of the brokers that do business with her of whom all are believed to be in the structured settlement industry. These fees come directly out of the tort victim's structured settlement recovery and require a greater amount of payments be sold than if such fees were not paid.
Members of the structured settlement and settlement planning industry should consider dissociating themselves from Bentzen's gossip, by (1)not giving Bentzen the gossip to publish and (2) NSSTA or SSP should be supplying this function through accurately publishing the information on their respective web sites.
