: court-o-rama.orgBlog of the Week(end): Cincinnati Blog
By Anne Skove, Esq.
Cincinnati isn't always a happening place. Sometimes we have to make our own fun here.
But what a great week for this town! A mere 7 years after the city experienced its most recent race riots, Mayor Mallory, the police chief, and others worked together to bring the NAACP here for their annual convention. Along for the ride were Senators Obama and McCain. The city pulled it off with grace unimaginable in recent years.
For a nice slice of Cincy life, check out Cincinnati Blog. One of the contributors is a public defender, and it shows (we mean that in a good way).
Topics go beyond your basic east side/west side, we-heart-Cincinnati-chili, or where's the best goetta (though you might find that, too).
Local criminal justice issues are king in this Queen City blog: reaction to an editorial about jails, cuts in courthouse security by the famous Sheriff Leis, and the state of indigent defense in Ohio.
There are also some great pix of people protesting Jerry Springer: The Opera. (Jerry was our Boy Mayor in the 70s.)
We really *do* love our chili. But there's a lot going on here in the 7 (or more) hills. Cincinnati is a microcosm of the country's progression (or lack thereof) with regard to race, criminal justice, and trying to fix a very broken system. Cincinnati Blog brings so much to the party.
