: Kentucky Law BlogJUDICIAL ELECTIONS: Status of filings in Louisville for 2008
By Michael Stevens
I just took a look at the judicial filings for Jefferson County.
With regard to the Court of Appeals slot that opened up with Judge Abramson's appointment to the Supreme Court and the interim appointment of Judge Denise Clayton, there has only been one filing and that was by Judge Clayton.
With regard to the Circuit Court slot opened with Judge Denise Clayton's appointment to COAKY, there has been no appointment yet and no candidate filings for this vacancy.
With regard to District Court seat opening as a result of Judge Audra Eckerly's election to the circuit court, the time for seeking the appointment ends on Jan. 24, 2008 (even though I have not seen any 'mailed' announcements to the bar) BUT there has been three announced filings David P Bowles, Matthew H. Welch, and Katie King.
Click on http://www.kentuckyregistrar.net/ for candidate filings for all races.
Deadline for filing is Jan. 29, 2008 at 4:00 pm. Click here for calendar.
