Cell Fine

By Anne Skove, Esq.

ADVERTISEMENTS

Even if you have a Matlock ring tone, your ringing cell could mean a fine in some (if not all) courtrooms.

The latest: two men were held in contempt of court and fined when their phones rang during in the courtroom.

Apologies and excuses were no excuse. Those present in the courtroom that day were warned at the very beginning that no phones were allowed. Surely, there are signs and warnings in every courthouse across the country. So stop it, already!

See Men Fined $200 When Cell Phones Rang in City Court, Tim Eberly, Atlanta Journal-Constitution (July 1, 2008).
