Florida Execution

By standdown

ADVERTISEMENTS
Florida carried out its first execution since a botched execution in December 2006.  An AP report on tonight's execution of Mark Dean Schwartz is here. The execution is the initial test of Florida's new lethal injection procedure, which was instituted after Angel Diaz was put to death in December 2006. Needles to inject the deadly chemicals into Diaz missed their mark and he suffered burns and extreme pain. Schwab unsuccessfully challenged Florida's new procedure in court. More on the Florida's 2006 botched execution of Angel Diaz is here, here, and here. It's the 10th execution of 2008; the 1,109th execution in America since the resumption of executions in 1977.
