Obama's Two Contradictions on Gay Rights

ADVERTISEMENTS
1. He opposes gay marriage and doesn't think such marriages are "real," but applauded the California Supreme Court's decision to legalize it.

2. He thinks states should decide whether to legalize gay marriage, and thinks that marriage is between a man and a woman, but opposes California's November Initiative because it's divisive.

Any more divisive than what he said in March, 2008?

So, I believe in civil unions that allow a same-sex couple to visit each other in a hospital or transfer property to each other. I don't think it should be called marriage, but I think that it is a legal right that they should have that is recognized by the state. If people find that controversial then I would just refer them to the Sermon on the Mount, which I think is, in my mind, for my faith, more central than an obscure passage in Romans. That's my view.

If I think your views are discriminatory you'll just refer me to the New Testament? Thanks Barack. What would you say to anyone who doesn't believe in the New Testament?

Regardless, the bigger point is that Senator Obama is quickly developing a credibility problem. And no small one, at that.
