: Legal Pad | LAJean Lawler named managing partner of Murchison & Cumming

Murchison & Cumming named Jean M. Lawler managing partner of the Los Angeles-based firm.
Lawler chairs the firm's insurance law and business transactions practice groups was their first female partner in 1993.
She was previously the president of the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel and the director of the Defense Research Institute, Lawyers for Civil Justice, the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel and the FDCC Foundation. She is located in the Los Angeles office.
Lawler succeeds Friedrich W. Seitz, who was managing partner from 1986 to 2007. Seitz, a senior partner in Los Angeles, will continue to serve as chairman of the product liability and international practice groups.
