Obama's Fresno Deficit to McCain

It's a well-known fact that victory in the state of California runs through the Central Valley, and its jewel -- Fresno.

Well, maybe not *well known*, or a "fact," per se, but certainly an educated guess on my part that I haven't confirmed.

John McCain has certainly recognized the importance of Fresno, as he visited the city yesterday to make an important energy speech

Curious, I e-mailed one of the directors of the Democrats in Fresno group, Gary Shuster, who let me know that Obama hasn't yet come to Fresno.

We're working on that, and my understanding is that he will come to
Fresno. That said, nothing is planned at this point. I'm not aware
of his visiting Fresno previously.

That spells disaster for Obama. And it's unclear whether he'll be able to carry the State of California without the city.

More importantly, it also means that the GOP is able to use an important talking point against Obama:

Obama will meet with Ahmadinejad but hasn't met with Fresno Mayor Alan Autry, star of television's In the Heat of the Night.

Days since McCain visited Fresno: 1
Days since Obama visited Fresno: 3,567,185,567,237,461 (beginning of time)

It's only a matter of time before Obama visits Fresno or concedes the election. One or the other.
