: Dispatches from the Culture WarsThe Real Story on Dearborn Wrestling Coach
By Ed Brayton
Last week I posted about a wrestling coach in Dearborn, MI, who was fired after 35 years for allowing his assistant coach, a pentecostal minister, to proselytize students at the predominantly Muslim school. I promised to do some more research and find out if the story was true and I did so while fully expecting to blast the minister for violating the separation of church and state. Reality turned out to be a bit different.
In fact, none of the situations cited by the school had anything at all to do with the wrestling team and the minister did nothing wrong. In fact, the only one who appears to have done something wrong here is the principal of the school, who allegedly berated a 15 year old student for converting to Christianity, which is none of his business at all. You can read the full story at the Michigan Messenger.
