That's Hot

Our apartment, that is. Leading to some creative sleeping arrangements, like Becca on the living room floor near the air conditioner, me in bed half the night and on the couch the rest. We had a small drama because the window in Becca's room had no screen - RED ALERT! HOUSING CODE VIOLATION! - and so I had to choose between her crib being so hot she sweated or risk her getting bug bites.

I fumed, looked up the relevant section of the state regulations (because that's what we do around here), let her sleep in just a diaper, and eventually cracked her window, leading to several tiny red bites on my baby. I felt terrible, apologized profusely to her (while she drooled obliviously), and was sure Child Services would be knocking on our door next. And then the super showed up and put a screen in.

Bar study marches on. I find myself thinking about all manner of future changes: switching Becca to formula (in about a month; I'm clueless); making yet-undetermined changes to the blog when I start work (in 2 1/2 months); and our next Big Transition, where we probably move to D.C. and have baby #2 (end of 2010). I blame it on the heat; it's sudden arrival after such a long and dreary spring is like being shoved into the next cycle of seasons after months of dragging behind. It makes you look forward.
