JG Wentworth's "Beserker Warriors"

By John Darer

ADVERTISEMENTS

It seems somewhat curious how "cash now pusher" and  Academy of Special Needs Planners sponsor JG (?Just Gimme?)Wentworth, in their commercial "Viking Opera", has chosen to adopt Vikings as part of their latest attempt to pry money from structured settlement recipients.

Let?s take a closer look at a few of the similarities between JG Wentworth and the Vikings:

  1. The activities of neither is/was regulated enough, not having to answer to anyone but themselves
  2. One group is known for "pillaging" victims while attempting to take over whole communities ? just like the Vikings.
  3. One group would attack unprovoked to get what they wanted ? just like the Vikings.
  4. One group would take advantage of situations to further their cause ? just like the Vikings.
  5. For one group?s victims, daily life became a struggle ? just like those who fell victim to the Vikings.
  6. Both have some association with "spam"

Now let?s look at the differences between JG Wentworth and the Vikings:

  1. One group is feared, whereas the Vikings have a romantic element.
  2. One group is led by the persona of a conniving old man ? Erik the Red died in his early 50?s.
  3. Another major difference is that Vikings were led in battle by ?Berserker Warriors?. Before any major conflict, Berserkers would spend hours working themselves into a frenzy by painting their faces, howling like wild animals, banging their helmets, consuming large quantities of alcohol or eating hallucinogenic mushrooms. This crazed state, they believed, made them immune to pain and helped them shrug off the non-lethal blows by enemy weapons, as they?d rush into battle wearing either bearskin or nothing at all (today, the word berserk means to act crazy.)

As of this posting, JG Wentworth?s people don?t wear helmets and do wear shirts.

The question is which is the more memorable Viking ode "1-877 yada yada need cash now"  or the classic "Spam Spam Spam Spam Spam Wonderful Spam" (see video below)
