Long-time L.A. Superior Court Commissioner Gerald Richardson retires

By Jason Siegel

ADVERTISEMENTS

Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Gerald Richardson retired in May after 20 years of service, the Metropolitan News-Enterprise reported.

It's unclear what prompted Richardson's retirement. MetNews found one person who thought Richardson had already retired and was on the East Coast after some tragic family events. Another person said Richardson was involuntarily retired while on long-term sick leave.

Richardson was a computer programmer before he pursued a law degree and became a solo practitioner, and then a deputy public defender. He was elected municipal court commissioner in 1988 and elevated to Superior Court in 2000.
