Associate Justice Laurie Zelon to chair family law task force

Laurie_d_zelon Laurie D. Zelon, associate justice at 2nd District Court of Appeals in Los Angeles, will chair a state task force on family law.

The Elkins Family Law Task Force "will conduct a comprehensive review of family law proceedings and recommend changes to increase access to justice, ensure due process, and provide for more effective and consistent rules, policies, and procedures," according to a press release.

The California Supreme Court's Elkins v. Superior Court decision last year, recommended creating the task force and found that marital dissolution trials should proceed under the same general rules of procedure that govern other civil trials, according to the press release.
