: Shelley’s CaseBar Prep - Day 14
By shell
Last night my muscle turned so stiff and achy I could not fall asleep until nearly 6 this morning. Around noon I groggily slithered out of the bed and fell onto the floor. Eventually I crawled into the shower and the warm water melted some stiffness somewhat. I spent two blissful hours eating and cleaning out the fridge. Then I looked through the remaining work and thought to myself that I can get this all done by 8 tonight.
Bar prep is killing my hand. Seriously, I can see the muscle and vein popping out after writing 40 pages of essay by hand, and over 75 pages of review notes — and this is not even including the in class notes or the index cards I have made.
The idea for drawing a timeline for state civil practice failed miserably. Instead, it seems to work when I write down the crucial dates on an index card. So far I have made over 75 index cards for various subjects. I am not sure if I can memorize all of them, but at least by writing them down I can sort of picture my sloppy handwriting when I write out the rules in essays.
The most traumatic moment today is writing the state civil procedure paper. It took me double the amount of alloted time to write out a sloppy 4 page paper that reflected nowhere close to the concise language as the model answer. I just cannot win.
Further scarring my brain tissue is the continuation of the corporations reading. I had misgauged the fun level and nearly slipped into a coma trying to decipher dividends, convertibles, and stated capital. Say what?! I am not in the mood to look up the terms in Black’s Dictionary tonight. Somehow I have a feeling that I will not understand this even if I stare at the word all day long and even if a stock expert comes in and give me a brilliant breakdown of dividends and whatnot. I will just stick to the duties of care and loyalty for now.
And now it is nearly midnight and I am finally finished with today’s task. I am relieved to finish all the assignments from last week after falling behind five day’s work. I fell behind because I took the 6-day PMBR course (which left virtually no time to study for the regular bar prep courses, considering that I had to be in school 6 hours a day for 6 straight days). Then I fell behind even more because I had no clue that the homework for bar prep was posted online. Silly me did not check the directions when I sent a proxy to pick-up my books.
