Jim Chen on ?Elite Trappings? and presidential candidates

By jly

ADVERTISEMENTS

Moneylaw’s founder and Dean of University of Louisville School of Law, Jim Chen, has an excellent post on ML discussing a very interesting article in last Sunday’s NYTimes “Week in Review” by Elizabeth Bumiller. As the post and article discuss, all of the the fuss created by the Clinton, Obama, and McCain camps over who is the most blue collar and down to earth is somewhat ironic given each of their elite backgrounds (Clinton = Wellesley & Yale Law; Obama = Columbia & Harvard Law; and McCain = US Naval Academy & son/grandson of admirals).

Perhaps the most interesting insight of the piece was something we already knew but probably didn’t think of - For the past 20 years the president of the United States has been a Yale graduate.

It’s a very interesting post and should be read in it’s entirety, however, I could not help but repost three pictures: 1) Hillary hoisting a mug of beer; 2) A somewhat gratuitous (but related) shot of Marietta, Georgia’s “Big Chicken”; and 3) Barack bowling (video below)
