On May 3, 2008, Harris Teeter removed Fresh Foods Market deli salads from shelves after the maker of the salads, Gourmet Boutique, recalled salads that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria.
Salads included in the recall are the Fresh Foods Market 6-pound Szechuan Chicken Salad, and the Fresh Foods Market honey, Fruit and nut Chicken Salad. Each recalled salad’s package has ?P-18799? written inside the USDA inspection mark, and a sell by or best before date between May 2 and May 7.
Consumers who purchased a recalled Harris Teeter salad can return it to a local Harris Teeter for a double reimbursement.
Earlier in the year, Gourmet Boutique, the maker of the salads, recalled 286,320 pounds of fresh and frozen meat and poultry products because of a possible Listeria contamination. No reports of consumer illnesses have been reported to the Food Safety and Inspection Service.
