2006 Jeep Commanders recalled by Chrysler because of engine stall risk

Powertrain Control Module software may allow stalling of engine

On May 13, 2008, Chrysler LLC recalled about 25,000 2006 Jeep Commander vehicles because the powertrain control module was programmed with software that may allow the engine to stall under certain conditions, which could lead to a catastrophic injury from a car accident.

Chrysler dealers will reprogram the software in all equipped 2006 Jeep Commanders that were built before January 11, 2006.

Chrysler owners may contact Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403. For more information, customers may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-88-327-4236, or visit safercar.gov.
