Flyer Critical of Commencement Speaker A.G. Mukasey Distributed at B.C. Law School Graduation Ceremonies

ADVERTISEMENTS

Some faculty and students at Boston College Law School's graduation ceremony handed out flyers criticial of the commencement speaker, Attorney General Michael Mukasey. In previous posts, ACSBlog noted members of the Boston College Law School community spoke out against Mukasey's selection as speaker, resulting in the school withdrawing its award of the Founder's Medal to the attorney general.

The independent electronic student newspaper, Eagleionline, has this excerpt from the flyers:

We’re glad you’re here… to celebrate three years of accomplishments by a great group of students, the Class of 2008!

But, we —a large and diverse group of concerned faculty, students and alumni—feel that it is important that you, our students’ families and friends, recognize that our Law School, by inviting Attorney-General Michael Mukasey, does not condone the policies and interpretations of law on torture and extreme interrogation methods that Mr. Mukasey has repeatedly presented for the current Administration.

The law school's commencement guide is available here.
