New Prosecutor General Calls Civil Society for Support

By Alexei Ghertescu

ADVERTISEMENTS
Yesterday the President presented the New Prosecutor General, Mr. Valeriu Gurbulea. There was a lot rhetoric, as always during such kind of events, but my attention was attracted by a statement made by Mr. Gurbulea himself.

He said that in order to achieve the tasks set for the Public Prosecution it "should enlist a close support by civil society and profiled non-governmental organizations".

Well, those of you who have read one of my previous posts on the Prosecutor General's Office attitude to non-governmental organizations may be surprised. Cause previously non-governmental organizations were a kind of evil for prosecutors. So how could such a change happen? The question that I hardly find an anwer to. Taking into account that Mr. Gurbulea previously took position of the deputy Prosecutor General his yesterday's affirmations seem to be nothing but rhetoric.

But remember, I told once that I'm an optimist and I really HOPE that his last statements represent his strong belief and conviction...
