: Personal Injury and Social Security Disability BlogGoogle Wants Your Medical Records ? How Trusting Are You?
By Robert Kraft
I actually like the idea of having a place online where I can store my medical records. It would be very handy to have everything in one spot. I hate going to a new doctor and trying to remember all the other doctors I've seen, medications taken, dates of surgery, etc.
So the new service offered to store your personal medical records at Google is appealing from one standpoint. But Google's privacy policy is a little squishy. One way to read it is that Google reserves the right to share your personal information with their affiliates or contractors, and you just have to trust Google not to abuse this privilege.
I don't have much to hide in my own medical records (few people will be interested in my shoulder or elbow surgeries), but if I had a serious medical condition, or even an embarrassing one, I'd be pretty hesitant to use this new service. What do you think?
