On December 19, 2007, Triumph Motorcycles America LTD recalled about 3,700 of its 2005-2008 Triumph Spring ST 1050 Motorcycles and 2004-2008 Triumph Tiger 1050 Motorcycles. The recall was initiated because an optional luggage rack on certain motorcycles was installed with undersized washers, resulting in failure of the rack?s sliding carriage to move as intended.
If motorcycles equipped with the rack exceed maximum weight and travel at high speeds, stability can be reduced, and the risk of a motorcycle accident is increased. Triumph dealers will inspect the accessory racks and repair them as needed. Owners may contact the company at 1-678-854-2010. For more information, customers may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration?s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236, or visit safercar.gov.
