Nightmare!

ADVERTISEMENTS
I woke up last night in a cold sweat. I really did. My heart was pounding so hard I thought I was going to wake up my wife.

Coming into my final semester, I needed 12 units to reach the exact minimum number of units needed to graduate. I signed up for Remedies (3 units), Wills & Trusts (3 units), Jury Law (3 Units), Moot Court (2 units), Elder Law (1 Unit) for a grand total of 12 units. The 1 unit Elder Law class only met five times and the first class wasn?t until the middle of the semester. But I forgot all about that class until a few weeks into the semester and I had a panic attack (Oh! I forgot to go to that class! I?m not going to graduate on time!) before I eventually realized that the class hadn?t even started yet and the rest of the semester was history.

So last night, I was in between sleep and being awake when the same thought hit me, with the anxiety multiplied 10 fold: you forgot to go to go to all the classes you were supposed to this semester! You?re not going to graduate!

I spent the rest of the early morning going over all the classes I was supposed to take in my mind and reassuring myself that I was in fact going to graduate. My heart began to slow down and I was able to drift back to sleep, but man, THAT was scary.

And yes, I checked my transcript when I woke up this morning just to make sure; I am graduating. (whew.)

Global warming has been all over the place recently; despite giving us the coldest April in 11 years, global warming still caused a cyclone in Burma. At least according to Al Gore, who recently claimed that the Burma tragedy is a natural consequence of Global Warming and there is a trend of stronger storms because of rising ocean temperatures, just like he predicted. Of course he ignores that the humanitarian tragedies are more of a product of a corrupt, totalitarian government. As I mentioned previously, the oceans are in fact cooling and we are also facing ?historically inactive tropical cyclone year for the Northern Hemisphere as a whole.? But why let truth get in the way?

Well, if your normal protests don?t work, why not try witchcraft to get your point across?

Stephen King (whose novel The Stand was my favorite work of fiction growing up), said something stupid recently at a literacy event: ?The fact is if you can read, you can walk into a job later on. If you don't, then you've got the Army, Iraq, I don't know, something like that." As Noel Sheppard of Newsbusters pointed out, this comment is not unlike what John Kerry said awhile back. It?s stupid and offensive. King is obviously not saying that all troops are stupid, but he is saying that stupid people can only become troops. Anyway, Sheppard brought this quote to attention at his website, and really the only commentary he made about King?s quote was this: ?Nice sentiment when the nation is at war, Stephen.? King?s response was fascinating and emblematic of reactions of many on the left when criticized by the right: "That a right-wing blog would impugn my patriotism because I said children should learn to read, and could get better jobs by doing so, is beneath contempt. I live in a National Guard town, and I support our troops, but I don't support either the war or educational policies that limit the options of young men and women to any one career ? military or otherwise."

Did anyone see any criticism of his patriotism by Sheppard? Why would he assume that his patriotism is being impugned? It reminded me of when the Defense Department wouldn?t release some documents to then front runner Hillary Clinton and she claimed, without any basis, that the DoD was ?impugning? her patriotism. It?s like a wife asking her husband ?Why didn?t you take out the trash?? and him responding, ?I am NOT cheating on you!? Me thinks the left doth protest to much.

I don?t know if I?ve linked to this before, despite it?s title, this is the best fight scene ever.

Here is an interesting list of the worst Mother?s Day gifts ever. My favorite is the ceramic poodle with a feather duster inserted into the head.
