Attorney: Hawai`i taxpayers unknowingly support unnecessary killing of dogs and cats

ADVERTISEMENTS
Stanford-trained attorney Nathan J. Winograd says that no-kill animal shelters should be the norm everywhere in America. Yet Hawai`i apparently has only four no-kill shelters, and none of them are designated as one of the official animal shelters that receive county funding. Winograd makes his case on Vegan Freaks podcast episode 83. He's making media and personal appearances in support of his book, "Redemption: The Myth of Pet Overpopulation and the No Kill Revolution in America." Winograd is also director of the California-based No Kill Advocacy Center, which recently sued Los Angeles County for alleged violations of the state Animal Shelter Law.

UPDATE: The Hawaiian Humane Society - funded by the taxpayers of the City & County of Honolulu to serve as "educator and enforcer of certain animal-related laws, including animal rescues and cruelty investigations" - addressed kill/no-kill issue in earlier this year.
