Follow up: Husch Blackwell Sanders opens Chicago office, hopes to "outsource" legal work to cheaper offices. ST Louis Business Journal.
Wednesday is the first day of business at Husch Blackwell Sanders LLP's Chicago office. The newly merged Husch Blackwell Sanders now is Missouri's second-largest law firm. The firm hung the new name on the shingle of its Chicago office just off Lake Michigan and relocated corporate attorney John Mandelbaum from the firm's London office. Husch Blackwell Sanders opened the Chicago office, in part, to give it a presence in a market where it has several clients. It also hopes to add work from the relatively expensive Chicago legal market by offering its ability to have attorneys in other markets do client work for lower rates. Firm officials plan to add several more lawyers to the Chicago office in short order. "We'd like to grow the Chicago office quickly," David Fenley, co-chair of the firm, said in a statement. "With John's assistance and an already strong client base in Chicago, we have commenced recruiting local lawyers."
