The U.S. Chamber of Commerce interviewed lawyers and looked at the results of class action lawsuits and deem California as having one of the worst legal systems for businesses, KPBS news reported. (LISTEN)
The survey ranked California at #45 last year and #44 in 2006.
U.S. Chamber of Commerce President Tom Donohue told KPBS that California courts allow evidence and testimony that isn't based on fact.
"You can get into a case here and we'll find somebody to give the court some argument with what we would call a frivolous and extraodinary judgment involving science that a rational person would not think is appropriate," he told KPBS.
According to the survey, West Virginia's legal climate is the worst and Delaware's is the best.
