: Brown Water LawNet users urged to be cautious
By Baden
PUNE:
A two-day seminar on cyber forensics kicked off at the National Insurance
Academy (NIA) on Monday. Speakers at the convention urged computer-users to take
precautions before trusting the web
world. K.C. Mishra director,
NIA, N.S. Kumar of Information systems audited account and control association (ISACA),
Smita Totade of NIA and Gokul Narayanan of the Asiatic School of Cyber Laws were
present on the occasion. There
can be no pre-cognisance of cyber onslaughts or nett law-breakings and suspects behind the
crime were difficult to trace, said the speakers. Net users must take precautions
before trusting the internet, they
urged. Narayanan said that the
law enables the police force to step in in a cyber law-breaking before it can take place
but intercession in such as law-breakings is often impossible. "Territorial limitations
and the enormousness of the cyber human race Acts as a deterrent in the sensing of
cyber crime," he
added. Elaborating on lawsuits of
phishing and cloning of websites, Narayanan criticised the insouciant mental attitude of
netizens, saying that these years people trusted computing machines more than human
beings.
