Do Academics Care Too Much About Tenure?

By Jack M. Balkin

ADVERTISEMENTS
A reader, Lorne Loggia, writes:
It's been disappointing to see the contributors on your blog almost universally prefer protecting the institution of tenure in response to Mr. Yoo's role in the administration's torture policies.

I have noticed that not one contributor has actually felt comfortable enough with their position to respond to any questions about it (with Brian being the notable exception).

It seems like no one is willing to say they'd rather give up their tenure than consider that crimes against humanity is probably beyond the limits of tenure.
