I Feel Like I Don't Get Email Anymore

One thing that sucks about Facebook and social networking sites is that I don't get email anymore from my friends. I used to really enjoy that email that told me what they were up to and their goals for the next year, and whether they were still with their boyfriends. Now it's like, well, you're on Facebook so you should know based on the status updates of "L is going to Vegas" and "S is very unhappy." There's this massive disconnect between my Facebook friends and the luddites without Facebook.

"Yeah, so-and-so broke up with so-and-so."
"NO! How did you find that out?"
"Oh, that little broken heart thingy on Facebook."

It's so strange!

I also feel like I don't get much email in general anymore, whereas when I was in school, it was like a constant stream in my mailbox. Much of it was junk (this organization is doing this, this one doing that), but I felt like I had much more of a purpose back then when people WANTED me to know about certain things and now I just find them out by chance, by yes, logging into Facebook.
